One of the things you may want to consider preparing for your child's Bar/Bat Mitzvah is a booklet you can distribute to your guests. It can include appropriate graphics, words of welcome, the text of the Torah and Haftarah portions being read, poetry, words to songs that may not be in the siddur you'll be using, etc. I use Hebrew word processing software to include the Torah and Haftarah portions because many synagogues don't have enough Chumashim to go around. It's a nice memento of the day.
