Podcasting
I've been spending a lot of time researching podcasting and playing with different ideas about how we can use this emerging technology in our middle school. Some links I've found helpful are Edupodder and Podcasters. I'm seeing radio shows, students reading their poetry, school announcements, etc. I would love to collaborate with anybody who has used this in a similar setting.

Podcasting is a combination of things; an audio file and a way to subscribe to the file and have it automatically downloaded to your computer and iPod or other mp3 player.

ARe many of your students using Ipods?
checkout shaspods.com, which is an innovative idea for helping people participate in the daf yomi project. I suspect by the end of the 7 year cycle that the ipod will have been replaced, twice, but a great concept.
podcasting is sort of like blogging, anyone can do it. and part of its charm, like blogging, is the personality that comes with it. So a cool podcast concept for schechter kids is to facilitate THEM creating a podcast, sort of like the old school radio. one kid does an israel segment, someone does the school lunch menu for the week, announcements, etc. That way you get the kids involved, and they might actually download it.
